What is Wintergreen Essential Oil?

Wintergreen (Gaultheria Procumbens) originally comes from North America and has thick, leathery leaves with white flowers. The leaves are distilled to make this wonderful essential oil.

Wintergreen Essential Oil is a real must have for every athlete or yogi. Put a drop in the bottle of your favorite carrier oil (such as Jojoba Oil or Fractionated Coconut Oil) and massage into your muscles after every workout. Your body will feel much more relaxed and stay nice and supple.

How do you use it?

Wintergreen is an extremely powerful essential oil and it is therefore extra important that you use it well diluted. The amount of Wintergreen Essential Oil in your product must not exceed 0.06%.

Maximum dosages for use on/in the:

0.06% - skin (in creams and washable products)
0.002% - skin around the eyes
0.009% - hair (excluding washable products)
0.03% - lips

In a warm bath

Fill the bathtub with warm water and mix 1 to 2 drops of Wintergreen Essential Oil with 1 tablespoon of Jojoba Oil. Add to your bath. This may seem little, but due to the powerful effect of this oil this is more than enough, enjoy!

In the diffuser

Combine in your aroma diffuser 1 drop of Wintergreen Essential, 2 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil and 3 drops of Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil for a clear, refreshing atmosphere at home.

What makes it so special?

Wintergreen owes its typical scent to methyl salicylate, a substance that only forms when the tough leaves are soaked in warm water. It is this same substance that also gives Birch Essential Oil the characteristic, healing scent.
