What is Juniper Berry?
Juniper Essential Oil is a powerful oil extracted from the berry-shaped cone fruits and branches of Juniperus communis. The coniferous tree grows throughout the northern hemisphere and sometimes extends into subtropical regions. The recognizable gray-green trees are most commonly found in the beautiful coniferous forests of Asia and Canada.
Because the berries need 2 to 3 years to ripen, both dark blue ripe berries and green unripe berries occur on one tree.
How do you use Juniper Berry Essential Oil?
Never use more than 1 - 2% essential oil and always dilute it in a carrier oil or butter. So for example 1 to 2 ml juniper essential oil in 100 ml almond oil or shea butter. Apply the oil as massage or skin oil where needed on cleansed skin. Juniper berry is capable of deeply cleansing clogged pores, making it a very beloved oil for skin problems.
You can also mix a few drops through your shampoo for a delightful scent and nourished scalp!
It is also common to evaporate a few drops of essential oil in a diffuser for a wonderfully warm feeling. The fresh scent is deliciously herbal with an undertone of pine needles and gives an uplifting feeling to people who are tired and exhausted.
