Basic Skincare Routine

Our skin is the largest organ in the body. Taking good care of your skin is therefore very important. So what is a good basic skincare routine, and what are the essentials? You can read all about it in this blog.

Which products actually do something for your skin? Do you know? We sometimes use so many products that we no longer know what is good for what, or whether it is even suitable for our skin at all. Time to go back to basics. Once the basics are in place, you can always build further on a lovely routine that works for your skin.

Determining your skin type

To find the right basic skincare for your skin, it is of course important to first determine which skin type you have. Each skin type needs different care. Curious how to determine your skin type? Then read this blog

Basic skincare routine

The basic skincare routine consists of 3 steps. Cleanse, hydrate and protect. Below we will explain these steps for each skin type.

Cleansing

This is one of the most important steps in your skincare routine. By cleansing the skin you keep it pure and ensure that skincare products are better absorbed by the skin.

It is best to cleanse your skin in the morning and in the evening. At night your skin recovers from all the daily influences and produces more sebum in the process. In the evening you cleanse the skin to remove any make-up, sebum and dirt from your face.

After cleansing, you can nicely remove the last remnants with a Hydrosol on a cotton pad.

Hydrating

Hydrating is the next important step in basic skincare. When hydrating, you add moisture to the skin. Why is this so important? Hydrated skin ensures a healthy, protected barrier function of the skin. Factors such as dry heated air or the weather can draw moisture out of the skin. It is therefore good to hydrate your skin every day for healthy & radiant skin.

You hydrate the skin with moisture-attracting ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerine or Allantoin. These ingredients draw moisture from the environment and hold on to it, which protects the skin against moisture loss. Indispensable for every skin type.

You can hydrate the skin by spraying a Hydrosol onto your face, which you can then dab into your face with your fingers. For extra hydration, mix a little glycerine into the rose water to retain extra moisture on the skin.

With Aloë Vera Juice you can also hydrate the skin. Apply it pure to the skin or, here too, add some Glycerine for more hydration.

Or make your own DIY hyaluronic acid. Within 10 minutes you will have made your own super hydrating serum with Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerine and Allantoin. It provides a wonderful hydration boost!

Hyaluronic Acid Recipe

Make your super hydrating Hyaluronic Serum very easily and within 10 minutes.

Protecting

The next step is protecting the skin against external influences. In summer you can also apply a natural sunscreen for this.

As a day and night cream you can make a lovely oil, butter or homemade cream.

The dry/sensitive/mature skin
Dry, sensitive and mature skin is best protected with a combination of butters and oils. Of course you can put together various oils and butters yourself, or go for our ready-made All Purpose Balm, which protects and nourishes the skin! Or get started yourself with this lovely rose-scented DIY Day Cream and soothing Night Cream.

The oily skin
You protect oily skin with a mixture of light and fast-absorbing oils such as Jojoba Oil, Safflower Oil and Grape Seed oil and Sea Buckthorn Oil. You can mix these with up to 1% essential oils such as Sweet Orange.

Once you have found the base, you can experiment further from here. 💚

Do you need help choosing?

  1. Try our Oil finder

and discover which oil or butter best suits your skin type.

  2. Select your skin type on the website. Go to all products

and select your skin type. All products suitable for your skin type will then appear. Choose the products that appeal to you and experiment with different products.

What is my skin type? Here's how to find out!

In this blog you can read how to recognise the different skin types, which skin conditions exist and how to choose the right skincare.

Cleansing by skin type

The dry/sensitive skin
Dry skin is best cleansed using Oil Cleansing. This is a natural way to cleanse the skin with oils. These oils are very suitable for this: Almond oil, Coconut oil, Argan oil.

The oily skin
Oily skin can also be cleansed very well with oil cleansing. In that case, rather use Jojoba Oil or Castor oil or get started with this easy DIY recipe. This Lavender Micellar water helps with impurities and calms and hydrates the skin.

Cleansing mature skin
Mature skin is cleansed with a light oil such as Apricot kernel oil
