DIY means "Do it Yourself" and a DIY Kit contains ingredients, tools, and instructions to make something yourself.

This DIY Package has the exact quantities measured out for making a precise number of items. So you don't have to calculate this yourself using the recipe; we have already done that for you. Our previous DIY packages were bundles of raw materials that you had to measure yourself.

We have made the package so that you only need tools that you already have at home, such as a glass, a spoon, and a pan with water. Easy, right?

This package contains precisely filled test tubes, which means you never make too much or too little. It is a nice way to test this product first and to make your first cosmetics without risk.

Certainly, you can personalize this lip balm by adding your own favorite essential oil. You could also add some color in the form of mica powder or oil-based dye.

Be careful with essential oils.

The skin on the lips is thin and therefore sensitive to essential oils. Feel free to add your favorite essential oil, but do so in moderation and pay attention to the following things:

1. Keep in mind a maximum dosage of 0.5% essential oil per lip balm. That is 0.05 grams per lip balm. This amounts to a maximum of 1 or 2 drops (depending on the essential oil) per lip balm. Measuring is knowing, so we always advise you to use a digital scale when you add this yourself to ensure that you don't cause any irritation on the lips.

2. Avoid the use of phototoxic oils that contain a high content of Bergapten (furocoumarins), as these can cause irritation on the lips when exposed to the sun. Examples of phototoxic oils are:

Furocoumarins are mainly found in pressed citrus oils but not in all.

The following essential oils are phototoxic, all to varying degrees:

1. Bergamot

   - inci: Citrus bergamia

2. Citroen, cold pressed

   - inci: Citrus limonum

3. Grapefruit

   - inci: Citrus paradisi

4. Lime, cold-pressed

   - inci: Citrus aurantifolia

5. Opopanax

   - inci: Commiphora Guidotti

6. Orange, bitter / NEROLI / Orange blossom

   - inci: Citrus aurantium

The following citrus essential oils arenot phototoxic and you can use without problems:

1. Bergamot FCF free -

   INCI: Citrus Bergamia

2. Citron, steam distilled - FCF free

   inci: Citrus limonum

3. Lime, steam distilled -

   inci: Citrus x aurantifolia

4. Mandarin -

   INCI: Citrus reticulata

5. Sweet Orange -

   inci: Citrus sinensis

Yes! This package is suitable for the beginner DIY'er and very easy to make. You will be ready in just 10 minutes and you don't need any special tools.

Certainly! The shells can be cleaned and reused. They may contain some grease stains, but can be reused if you don't mind this. The cans can also be reused.

You can reuse the test tubes by putting cuttings in them in water or seeds in soil. You hang them up using the magnets that are included. Fun, right!

The lip balm contains a drop of Peppermint oil. This oil contains the component menthol. Menthol provides a tingling sensation that temporarily makes your lips appear fuller by causing the blood vessels to dilate and draw more blood to your lips. This causes your lips to swell slightly and become redder, which is what we call the "plumping" effect. The effect lasts for an hour or until you eat again.
