Make sure all your tools and equipment are ready and ensure that everything is disinfected.

Bring water to the boil in a heavy-bottomed pan or use a hotplate.

Weigh out all the ingredients from each phase into a separate heat-resistant measuring cup.

Weigh Phase A including the measuring cup, so that we can top up the evaporated water after heating.

Once Phase A has reached 70 degrees, weigh it and top up the lost water until you reach the desired weight as noted earlier.

Make sure Phase B has completely melted and check that both temperatures are 70 degrees.

Pour Phase A into B and mix very thoroughly with a whisk or pulse a few times with a stick blender until you see it turn white.

Cool the mixture back down to 40 degrees and then add Phase C and E. Stir until it is well mixed.

Measure the pH. Use an acid such as lactic acid solution to lower the pH or a base such as sodium bicarbonate solution to raise it until you have reached the desired pH of 4.0 to 4.5.

You can optionally add an essential oil or leave it out in case you have sensitive skin.

Put it in a bottle with a pump and label your creation.

Squeeze or pump a generous amount into the palm of your hand and apply it to your wet face while gently massaging in a circular motion. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
