Description
What is Abyssinian Oil?
Abyssinian oil is a plant oil extracted from the seeds of the Crambe Abyssinica plant. It is a light, non-greasy natural seed oil with a unique fatty acid composition not found in other oils. This oil contains Erucic acid, which is an unsaturated C22 fatty acid. This fatty acid ensures that the oil does not oxidize quickly.
The oil is extracted through cold-pressing of the seeds of the Crambe abyssinica plant, which primarily grows in the Mediterranean region and East Africa. Through cold-pressing, all important nutrients are preserved and this oil is therefore a fantastic addition to your care routine.
What are the benefits of Abyssinian Oil?
Natural replacement for silicones
Abyssinian oil is a natural replacement for synthetic silicones that are often used in hair products. The oil has a similar softening effect without the disadvantages of synthetic substances.
Hydrates the skin and prevents moisture loss
Abyssinian oil contains Erucic acid, a fatty acid that is abundant in the seeds of the Crambe abyssinica plant. This fatty acid plays an important role in the unique properties of Abyssinian oil. It helps to intensively nourish and soften the skin and hair and provides a protective layer that prevents moisture loss.
Strengthens hair and improves combability
The Erucic acid ensures that the oil has a smoothing and softening effect, making hair more combable and less prone to tangling. Additionally, Erucic acid helps strengthen the hair fiber, making hair less brittle and healthier-looking. It also forms a protective layer around the hair, helping it retain moisture and giving hair a natural shine without feeling heavy or greasy.
Rich in vitamins and minerals
Abyssinian oil is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E, proteins and minerals that all promote healthier hair and healthier skin.
Sebum regulating
Abyssinian oil dissolves excess sebum and has a sebum-regulating effect. This helps balance the (scalp) skin. The oil is therefore very suitable for both oily and impure as well as dry skin.
How do you use Abyssinian Oil?
Pure on skin/hair
Abyssinian Oil can be applied pure to clean, slightly damp skin or to the hair. Apply a few drops to wet or dry hair, especially to the lengths and ends to promote shine. When you want to use it for your skin, you can massage 3-5 drops well into the skin.
Leave in conditioner
After washing, apply a few drops to the lengths and let it absorb. This way it provides a nourishing treatment for dry ends.
(Hair)care products
Abyssinian oil is a fine addition to DIY care products. Due to its light texture and hydrating properties, it is excellent in hair serums, hair oils or facial products. The oil is easily absorbed and does not leave a greasy layer behind.
What is so special about Abyssinian Oil?
The Crambe Abyssinica plant requires relatively little water to grow, making the oil a sustainable choice! Additionally, Abyssinian oil is a very stable oil and therefore does not go rancid as quickly compared to other oils. Perfect for use in care products.
