Description
What is Soy Wax?
Soy wax is made from soybeans, a crop that can be sown and harvested repeatedly. Paraffin, on the other hand, is made from petroleum, a fossil fuel that will eventually run out. Even during burning, soy is a more environmentally friendly choice because it doesn't release toxins into the air. Additionally, soy wax is a fantastic vegan alternative to beeswax. Soy wax is used to make candles and is a natural and healthy alternative to paraffin. You can also use it in DIY cosmetics.
Candle Benefits
Clean Candles
Do you recognize this? You burn a candle and a black spot remains on your candle holder or ceiling. With soy wax, that's a thing of the past! Soy doesn't leave black spots or dark soot behind.
No Toxins
Even better, soy wax is a beautiful alternative to paraffin, a wax that leaves behind at least eleven(!) different toxins after burning.
Soy Burns Cooler
Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin, which reduces the risk of burns if you get the hot wax on your skin.
Smells Better
When you combine soy wax with your favorite essential oils to make a candle, you enjoy the scent much more than with paraffin. This is because soy wax melts at a lower temperature, so the essential oils don't burn before you smell them. Additionally, soy wax melts more slowly, which means the scent of essential oils is released gradually and you get twice as much use from your candle!
Easy to Clean
Is your candle finished but there's a bit of soy left over? No problem! Scrape it off and use it for a new candle, or easily wash it away with some warm water and soap.
Soy Wax for the Skin
Soy wax is suitable for use in cosmetics, such as DIY foot or heel balm or an intensive hand or lip balm. The melting point of Soy Wax is between 58 and 70 degrees. This makes it a somewhat harder wax. For facial cosmetics, soy wax is less suitable as it tends to remain on the skin. Our recipes for skin use are often based on Beeswax or Myrica Fruit Wax, Berry Wax or Candelilla Wax or a combination thereof.
How to Use It?
You use soy wax to make candles. To make a 100 ml candle, you can melt 100 grams of soy wax and add 5 to 10 grams of essential oil of your choice for a nice scent. For this, you can use these glass jars and these wicks.
What's So Special About Soy Wax?
You can mix almost all essential oils with soy wax to make a candle. In the recipe above, try replacing the herbs with a few drops of Morning Sunshine Blend for a lovely morning or Lavender Essential Oil for a deep sleep (just remember to blow out the candle before going to sleep)!
