Description
What is Purple Brazilian Clay?
Purple Brazilian Clay is a fine mineral powder from the rich soils of Brazil. The clay is carefully harvested, purified, dried and ground very fine into a delightfully soft powder.
The colour ranges from lilac to deeper purple-grey, a gift from the natural minerals in the earth. The scent is lightly earthy and mineral, exactly what you would expect from a pure clay.
In traditional South American wellness practices, coloured clays have been used for centuries to cleanse and rejuvenate the skin. Each colour represents a different mineral composition, and the purple variant is considered particularly balancing, gentle enough for regular use but effective at absorbing impurities.
This clay absorbs excess oil and dirt without drying out the skin. The skin feels clean and fresh, without a tight feeling. Ideal for DIY face masks, cleansers, scrubs or as a natural colorant.
What are the benefits of Purple Brazilian Clay?
Mattifies the skin
The clay absorbs excess sebum. This makes the skin look less shiny and feel clean and fresh.
Gentle cleansing
The fine particles help loosen dirt and impurities, without treating the skin roughly.
Makes skin smoother
Removes dead skin cells in a gentle way. The skin feels noticeably softer after use.
Refines skin texture
By absorbing dirt and sebum, pores appear less visible. The skin looks more even and refined.
Mild and balancing
This clay is gentler than, for example, green clay. The skin remains comfortable and balanced.
Natural mineral boost
Contains minerals such as silica and iron oxides that provide a fine texture and good spreadability.
Provides natural colour
Gives DIY products a subtle purple tint, without synthetic dyes.
How to use Purple Brazilian Clay?
Face: Mix 1–2 teaspoons with water or hydrosol into a paste. Apply, let sit for 5–10 minutes and rinse off. Lightly mist the mask during use with water or hydrosol so it doesn't dry out on the skin.
Masks: Use 10–25% in a powder mask or mix into the water phase.
Cleanser: Mix a small amount through your cleanser or use 5–10% in a formula.
Body: Use 5–10% in scrubs or 10–20% in a body mask.
What makes Purple Brazilian Clay so special?
The purple colour comes from a unique blend of minerals deep within Brazilian clay deposits. This means each batch has a slightly different shade, while the texture always remains beautifully fine and creamy when mixed with water. Nature's own colour palette, every time.
