What is Oleogel Base?

Oleogel Base helps transform oils and butters into rich and creamy textures. This ingredient is an excellent base for various skincare products and is ideal for making (lip) balms, creams and facial cleansers.

This ingredient consists of more than 75% plant-based glycerin, which intensively hydrates the skin and provides a silky-soft texture. Glycerin binds the other ingredients, creating a smooth and creamy consistency. Oleogel Base has a pH value of 5 - 7.

Oleogel Base also contains natural extracts from:

• The soap tree (Quillaja saponaria). This natural extract supports gel formation and is known for its mild and cleansing properties.

• Soapwort (Saponaria officinalis). This extract has a soothing effect and contributes to a smooth texture.

Oleogel Base is suitable for making many skincare products, including (lip) balms, creams, facial cleansers, masks and scrubs. Create light gels or thick balms, with Oleogel Base both are possible.

Suitable for making Oleogel cleansers
When Oleogel Base is mixed with oils, it forms a stable gel. Upon contact with water, the gel structure partially breaks down and creates a milky emulsion. This emulsion helps remove dirt and makeup gently, while keeping the skin hydrated. Perfect for making Oleogel cleansers!

This liquid ingredient is easy to process. It can be used in cold and warmer processes, it remains stable up to 80°C, which offers extra flexibility when creating your perfect DIY.

How do you use Oleogel Base?

For an oleogel: add oil drop by drop to 20-25% Oleogel Base to make an oleogel.

Suitable for cleansers, (lip) balms, scrubs, and baby care. Stir or shake well before use; it can be processed at room temperature or up to 80°C. Add up to 5% water to create a creamy texture.
