Make your own natural soaps with this pure, fine sodium hydroxide powder. The essential base for traditional cold process soap making. Without sodium hydroxide there is no real soap: it ensures the saponification of oils and butters into a solid, cleansing and nourishing soap bar.
Our sodium hydroxide is of high purity (approx. 99%) and suitable for cosmetic use. Perfect for both beginner and experienced soap makers!
What is it?
Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is a white, odorless powder that forms a powerful lye solution when in contact with water. This solution reacts with vegetable oils such as coconut oil, olive oil or shea butter and thus forms the basis of your homemade soap.
Attention:
Sodium hydroxide is a caustic substance and requires caution. Always use protective gloves, safety glasses and work in a well-ventilated area. Always add the sodium hydroxide to water (never the other way around!) to prevent splashing or burns.
