Scots Pine - forest walk in a bottle

Scots pine is undoubtedly the most well-known scent in car air fresheners and that is not without reason: pine scent has a calming effect in situations with many stimuli, promotes concentration and creates a positive ambient feeling. At home, Scots pine is therefore also a wonderful essential oil to use as an air freshener. In addition, pine oil purifies the airways as if you're taking a real forest walk - very pleasant for colds or breathing irritations. When used on the skin, Scots pine essential oil also has a relaxing and pain-relieving effect, making the oil ideal as an addition to massage oil.

Scots pine oil is, as the name suggests, extracted from the needles and twigs of the Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). This is done through steam distillation, a process where steam under low pressure is passed through the plant material. This releases the aromatic essences, which are captured and preserved.

Use

Always dilute essential oil in a Carrier Oil or butter when using on your skin, such as almond or jojoba oil, and use no more than 1 - 2% (1 - 2ml essential oil per 100ml Carrier Oil).

Apply the oil where needed on cleansed skin. To inhale the essential oil or when using as air freshening, use it in an oil burner/diffuser or a scent block.

You can combine Scots pine essential oil well with eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary and Tea Tree Oil.
