More about lavender
Lavender grows mainly in the Mediterranean region and northern Africa, where
it is often cultivated for the production of lavender essential oil.
The lavender flowers have many good properties; it's not without reason the most used natural ingredient in skincare products! It supports, among other things, the skin's restorative ability and helps with relaxation.
Dried lavender can be used to spread a lovely scent in rooms, boiled to make tea, or it can be steeped in a plant oil to make your own lavender infused oil.
Use
Put some dried lavender in a bowl and place in the living room or bedroom for a lovely lavender scent. The scent is relaxing and helps sleep better.
By making tea from the dried flowers you can also benefit from these properties. Pure it can be quite strong to drink, it's recommended to mix the lavender with other herbs. You can also make an extra strong tea from pure lavender to use as skincare (in for example a spray), or pour it over your scalp and hair.
To make your own lavender oil you can let the flowers steep in a plant oil of choice. A neutral smelling oil is the best choice, so that the lavender scent comes through well. Grind the dried flowers a little so that the extracts can be released well. Then put the desired amount of lavender (the more the stronger) in a clean and dry glass jar and pour the plant oil over it. Let the oil-lavender mix steep for at least 48 hours, the longer the better. You get the best result at 3 weeks. Then strain the oil through a sieve into a clean and dry glass bottle or jar, and you have your own oil with lavender extract.
