Basic Shampoo Bar (3 ingredients)

Want to practise making a shampoo bar and be done with 3 ingredients? Then this recipe is for you! SCI forms the base of this shampoo bar and is mild for skin and hair. Cocamidopropyl Betaine makes the SCI even milder and creates lovely foam, and the cocoa butter cares for your hair right down to the ends.

Instructions

1

Put a pan with a centimetre of warm water on the heat and bring it to the boil.

2

Put on your dust mask and work in a well-ventilated area where no children or pets are present.

3

Weigh the SCI powder into a large bowl. You do not want to inhale this powder, which is why we wear a dust mask.

4

Start by melting the cocoa butter in a heat-resistant measuring beaker (au bain-marie).

5

Add the Cocamidopropyl Betaine to the melted Cocoa Butter and stir.

6

Put on your gloves.

7

Add the warm Cocoa Butter and CAPB mixture to your bowl with SCI and knead it together into a dough.

8

Knead well. It can sometimes look a bit crumbly, but this usually sorts itself out.

9

Is the dough too dry? Then add a few drops of water and continue kneading.

10

Is the dough too wet? Then add a little extra SCI. Do you have cornstarch or white clay at home? Then you can also add this to make it drier. Always add small amounts, so that it does not become too dry.

11

Shape a shampoo bar from your dough and done!

12

Let the shampoo bar dry in a dark, cool place for at least 48 hours. After 2-3 days your bar is usable. But it only becomes really hard & long-lasting after 1-2 weeks of drying.

13

To test whether your bar is completely dry you can weigh it daily. Has the bar been the same weight for 2 days in a row? Then it has fully hardened.

Usage

To be used daily as a shampoo. Also suitable as a body wash in combination with a loofah sponge.

This shampoo bar is suitable for normal hair. Curly, dry or damaged hair benefits from slightly more hydrating ingredients. We advise you to take a look at the Choco Peppermint Shampoo Bar or the Rosemary Shampoo Bar for this.
