Instructions

Begin by preparing all the necessary equipment and make sure everything is clean.

If you do not have a hot plate, prepare a water bath or bain-marie using a stove and a shallow pan.

Weigh out all your ingredients and combine each phase in a separate heat-resistant measuring beaker.

Note the weight of Phase B, including the container, so that we can top up the evaporated water after heating.

Start by heating Phase A and B.

Check the temperature of both phases, it should be 75 degrees Celsius.

Once the temperature is equal in both phases, weigh Phase B and add water to reach the weight noted earlier.

Carefully pour Phase B into Phase A and stir until it is well mixed.

Stir gently while measuring the temperature.

At 60 degrees Celsius, add Phase C. Stir until it is well mixed.

At 40 degrees Celsius, add Phase D, followed by Phase E.

Keep stirring for about 5 minutes or longer after it has reached room temperature.

Leave the beaker covered with a clean cloth for about 15 minutes to reach the final consistency.

Once the emulsion is thick, measure the pH and adjust it if needed with a solution of lactic acid or sodium bicarbonate. It should be around 5 - 5.5.

Add Phase F and stir until it is well mixed.

Put it into a jar and stick a label on your creation!
