What is Roman Chamomile Water (Hydrosol)?
Calming, caring and soothing for body and mind: that is Chamomile Water. Apply it to the skin for a caring and hydrating effect or spray it on your bedding for a soothing scent.
Chamomile water or hydrosol is left over after making Chamomile Essential Oil, through steam distillation of Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile). Hydrosols have a much milder effect than essential oils and therefore have a wide range of applications.
Benefits
Cares for sensitive skin
Due to the mild, caring effect of chamomile, Chamomile Water is ideal for red and sensitive skin. Use as a toner or place a clean cloth, soaked in chamomile water, on irritated skin for deep care and hydration.
For tired eyes
Make a compress from Chamomile Water and use it on tired eyes. You will notice that the redness gradually fades and your eyelids become smooth and moist again. Perfect after a long day at your desk.
For a calm atmosphere
Chamomile has a euphoric, soothing scent that creates a calm, peaceful atmosphere. Use the water as a room spray or spray it on your bedding to create a soothing atmosphere in your bedroom. Tip: spray on your meditation pillow for extra effective meditation.
How do you use it?
As a toner for your face
Chamomile Water is a beautiful toner for sensitive skin. You can optionally combine it with other hydrosols such as Rose Water or Lemon Balm Water. Witch Hazel is also often used in toners.
In DIY skincare products
In water-based skincare products, you can often replace the water with a hydrosol. Especially products for sensitive skin gain that little extra by incorporating Chamomile Water.

Chamomile has been used for thousands of years as a skincare product. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and also the Saxons considered Chamomile to be a very valuable herb. The beauty of Chamomile Water is that very little plant material is needed to make it, especially in proportion to Chamomile Essential Oil.
