How is Vanilla CO2 Extract made?

Vanilla CO2 Extract is obtained through CO2 extraction, whereby aromatic compounds are released from the vanilla bean (Vanilla Planifolia) through high pressure.

Why is Vanilla so precious?

Almost all vanilla grown around the world is hand-pollinated. This makes it a very precious and labor-intensive crop.

It takes about 4 to 5 years after planting before Vanilla produces its first flowers. 600 hand-pollinated flowers are needed to produce just 1 kilo of cured vanilla pods. These are then hand-picked while still green and sold to specialized processing companies where they are sorted, blanched, steamed and sun-dried. They are then sorted again, shade-dried and fermented while being constantly evaluated for aroma and individually checked for quality.

No wonder vanilla is such a precious commodity!

What's so special about it?

Officially, there is no Vanilla Essential Oil, because vanilla beans don't release aromatic oils during the traditional steam distillation process. Thanks to CO2 extraction, the aromatic compounds in the oil are also preserved (vanillin), which is why this CO2 Extract carries the wonderful aroma of vanilla.

How do you use it?

Incorporate in Perfume, Massage oil or DIY creations

Vanilla CO2 is wonderful to incorporate in oil-based perfumes, massage oils or other skincare products..

Use Vanilla CO2 Extract diluted with a carrier oil or incorporated in a skincare product. Make sure that no more than 3% of the final product consists of Vanilla CO2. Make sure you don't heat the Vanilla CO2 and add it to the cooling phase (below 40 degrees) of your recipe.

Incorporate in Desserts, Cake, Ice cream, and Pie

Our Vanilla CO2 Extract (12% Vanillin) is food grade quality and can therefore also be eaten! You only need a drop for an intense flavor experience. For example, put a few drops in your homemade cake and enjoy the overwhelming luxurious taste of Vanilla.

Can I use Vanilla CO2 in the diffuser?

The answer to this is No. Not only is it a waste to evaporate the Vanilla, the syrupy substance will also not be distributed well in your diffuser.

I can't get it out of the bottle?

Depending on room temperature, it may be necessary to put the bottle in a layer of warm water (1 to 2 cm) for a moment, so that the extract becomes liquid and the drops come out more easily. At cold temperatures this is often necessary.
