Calendula Facial Soap

Make your own simple facial soap with natural surfactants. This is gentler than traditional soap because it has a lower pH that is suitable for people with sensitivities. Calendula Oil is added for its skin-softening properties and Neroli Essential Oil for its uplifting scent. You have the choice to use whichever Essential Oil you like.

Make sure all your equipment is ready and ensure that everything is sterilised. Wear your face mask to prevent inhaling dust powders from the surfactants.

Prepare and measure out all your ingredients. Combine each phase together.

Use a sieve to refine the powdered surfactants and extracts (phase A) while transferring them to the mixing bowl.

Pour all the other phases into the mixing bowl.

Mix everything together with a spatula.

Put on your gloves and use your hands to mix all the phases thoroughly. This process is similar to kneading dough.

Scrape your mixing bowl to get as much of the remaining ingredients sticking to the bowl as possible.

Shape the shampoo bar with your hands or use a mould press.

Let it cure at room temperature for about 2 days before use. You can do this on your kitchen worktop or inside your room where it is out of reach of children.
