Description
What is Vanilla Co2 Extract?
Vanilla CO2 extract comes from the dried pods of Vanilla planifolia. By using CO2 under high pressure, all aromatic compounds are released without solvents. The result: a concentrated, sometimes crystalline mass with up to 95% vanillin.
The scent is warm, creamy and sweet. Think of freshly baked cookies with a light woody undertone. That scent really goes deep.
Vanilla CO2 extract works as a base note in perfumes and as an antioxidant in skincare. Ideal for DIY body butter, lip balm and perfume oil.
What are the benefits of Vanilla Co2 Extract?
Anchors light scents
Vanillin evaporates slowly and holds lighter scents like citrus. A blend remains noticeable for longer this way.
Makes scents softer and fuller
The sweet, balsamic tone softens sharp edges of spicy or woody oils. Recipes immediately smell rounder and fuller.
Protects the skin
Vanillin is a phenolic antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals. Good for skin that is daily exposed to pollution.
Leaves no residue behind
CO2 extraction uses no solvents, so no residues remain in the finished product either. Pure and consistent from batch to batch.
Works at low dosage
Already at 0.1% the scent is clearly present. Economical in use and easy to dose.
Perfume lasts longer
As a deep base note it holds a scent composition together. A perfume or body oil remains noticeably longer in the skin.
How do you use Vanilla Co2 Extract?
Vanilla CO2 extract is a crystalline substance and must first be dissolved before it can be processed. Do this by heating the crystals together with an oil to approximately 50°C, or until the crystals are completely dissolved. Only then is the extract ready for use.
Note: the more you use, the cloudier the oil becomes and the creamier the finished product feels. We therefore advise not to use more than 0.5%, so that the finished product remains liquid.
Face and body: Use 0.05–0.5% in oil, serum, body butter or lotion. Always dissolve the crystals first in a warm oil phase.
Perfume and roll-on: 0.5% in alcohol or carrier oil like jojoba. Start low and build up to taste.
Diffuser: Dissolve a small spatula in alcohol or solubilizer before use. The scent is strong, so be economical.
What makes Vanilla Co2 Extract so special?
With 95% vanillin this is one of the most concentrated vanilla extracts on the market. It can crystallize at room temperature, these are not quality problems, but rather a sign of that high content. Just heat it au bain-marie and it becomes liquid again.
