What is Neem Oil?

In Ayurveda, an ancient Indian way of life, Neem Oil has been used for centuries to care for skin, hair and nails.

Neem Oil is obtained by cold pressing the seeds and fruits of the neem tree, the Melia Azadirachta. It is a thick oil and solidifies at cooler temperatures.

Good to know: Neem Oil is not liquid at room temperature. If you want to use the oil in liquid form, you need to warm it up first (for oil pulling you can use it solidified in your mouth, then it will melt naturally).

Benefits

Skin

Neem Oil is packed with antioxidants, which means it can slow down the aging process of the skin. The vitamins and essential fatty acids in Neem Oil maintain the skin's elasticity and can reduce wrinkles. In other words: Neem Oil gives you a radiant complexion.

Hair

Besides a smooth complexion, Neem Oil can also give you a radiant head of hair! The oil nourishes your hair and scalp. You can even use the oil as a conditioner or in a DIY shampoo for shiny hair.

Nails

Regularly apply a drop of Neem Oil to your nails and cuticles to keep them nourished and shiny.

How to use Neem Oil?

Use Neem Oil as an ingredient in DIY care products. The oil combines well with other natural oils.

To rinse your mouth

Oil pulling is an Ayurvedic practice where you rinse your mouth with oil for about 20 minutes. Then spit the oil into the trash (otherwise your sink will get clogged). Optionally mix with Coconut Oil or Sesame Oil and add a maximum of 1% Peppermint Essential Oil to your bottle for a better taste experience.

In your hair

Coat your hair with neem oil and let it soak for 30 to 60 minutes, then wash it as normal. Taking too long? Then mix a few drops of the oil with your shampoo to still benefit from the nourishing properties of neem.
