What is Myrica Fruit (Bayberry) Wax?

This light yellow wax with a slightly balsamic-like scent comes from the peels of the fruits of the Myrica Cerifera, also known in Dutch as the wax myrtle. Originally, Bayberry wax comes from the Andes mountains in Colombia and can nowadays be found in Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. The berries grow on the female shrubs year-round. The wax that covers the grayish berries protects the berries against moisture loss and protects the berries against extreme weather conditions.

Bayberry wax is a plant-based and vegan alternative for Beeswax. The wax is Ecocert certified and completely biodegradable. Most vegan waxes are so different in use that you have to significantly adjust the recipe. Myrica Fruit Wax comes closest to Beeswax in terms of structure, making it an excellent alternative.

What makes Myrica Fruit Wax special?

Myrica Fruit Wax is unique in its kind. It has a relatively low melting point for a wax, somewhere between 45 and 55 degrees, but feels almost as hard as beeswax at room temperature. It gives your creations a silky smooth texture and a highly luxurious spreading quality. Bayberry wax forms a thin film layer on the skin so that it is protected against external influences. Just like the Bayberry itself, our skin is thus also protected against all weather conditions.

How do you use Myrica Fruit Wax?
