Description
What is Turmeric Oleoresin?
Turmeric Oleoresin comes from the dried roots of the turmeric plant, the same root as the yellow kitchen spice. Using CO2 under high pressure, we extract the fragrance, color and active compounds without solvents. This CO2 extract is a thick, deep orange-brown oil.
It smells warm, spicy and slightly woody, with an earthy undertone. A hint of ginger and curry, but softer. Great if you love warm, spicy scents.
On the skin it provides just that extra freshness. The natural protective compounds in turmeric help the skin against aging and make sensitive skin feel more comfortable. Use it in a facial oil, balm or body butter. Due to its strong color, start with just a tiny amount.
What are the benefits of Turmeric Oleoresin?
Protects against aging
Turmeric is packed with natural protective compounds (turmerones) that neutralize free radicals. This helps skin look less dull and tired.
Soothes sensitive skin
The compounds in the extract make irritable or red skin feel more comfortable. Perfect for those who easily experience dry, tight skin.
Colors naturally
The deep orange naturally colors oils and soap golden yellow to orange, even with just a tiny amount. Handy if you're looking for natural color without artificial additives.
Lasts long in scent
The warm, spicy fragrance binds well and lingers for hours in oil, balm or fragrance oil.
You need very little
The extract is highly concentrated. A mini dose already provides noticeable fragrance, color and effect, so a bottle lasts a very long time.
How to use Turmeric Oleoresin?
Face: 0.1-0.3% in a carrier oil such as jojoba or squalane, apply in the evening. The color can stain light clothing.
Body: 0.2-1% in body oil or body butter for a warm scent and subtle fresh glow.
Balm or cream: 0.1-0.5%, add when the formula has cooled (below 40°C).
Soap: 0.1-0.5% of total oils. Mix it through some oil first for even color. Expect a yellow to orange tint.
Fragrance or massage oil: 0.5-1% for a spicy, woody base. Never use undiluted on the skin.
Patch test: always test first on a small area of skin.
What makes Turmeric Oleoresin so special?
Few plant extracts provide both a warm fragrance and natural color. Turmeric does both, even at a mini dose. A tiny amount colors your soap golden yellow while providing a spicy scent.
