Description

What is Berry Wax?

This very light yellow to white wax with a mild scent is also known as Chinese, Japanese or sumac wax and comes from the fruits of the Chinese or Japanese lacquer tree. China processes around 150 million tons of lacquer tree fruits per year. The wax is obtained by boiling the fruit sap so that the wax naturally floats to the surface. The wax is then filtered and further processed into pellets.

What makes Berry Wax so special?

Officially, when looking at the chemical structure, Berry Wax is not a wax. This is because it contains triglycerides such as palmitic acid (80%), stearic acid (8%) and oleic acid (4%). With a low melting point between 48°C and 54°C, it is a soft wax, with 20% of the wax melting even below 30 degrees. This makes it a particularly soft wax with a rich but powdery skin feel. As a co-emulsifier (an emulsifier used alongside another emulsifier), Berry Wax ensures that butters and oils in a recipe blend beautifully together. In addition, it gives your creations a soft, fluffy structure that makes you happy.

How do you use Berry Wax?

Mix the Berry Wax together with the oils and butters in your recipe and heat to 55 degrees. For the best results, combine Berry Wax with another wax such as Myrica Fruit Wax or Candelilla Wax. For example, make a delicious balm with it, for your body, face or lips. The variations are endless!

Note: Berry Wax is not suitable for making candles.
