Avocado - a true superfood for your skin

It's no secret anymore that the avocado is a special fruit. Avocados contain a unique abundance of minerals and are real vitamin powerhouses; they are a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, C, E and folate (B11). Furthermore, this Central American fruit consists largely of monounsaturated fatty acids which are incredibly beneficial for your skin! You can make lovely masks with them, but getting started in the bathroom with pureed avocado is quite a hassle. Much easier is to use the oil extracted from the fruit flesh. This refined avocado oil is neutral in scent and lighter in color than the unrefined avocado oil.

The large amount of vitamin A and E in avocado oil work as powerful antioxidants and support your skin, boost collagen production and help prevent premature skin aging. The oil contains plenty of a substance called sterolin, which particularly helps soften the skin. Furthermore, it is an excellent moisturizer and soothes your dry (scalp) skin. The oil is also wonderful as a nourishing after-sun care.

How can I use avocado oil?

You can best apply the oil after showering or on cleansed skin, so the oil can be absorbed well and retain moisture for beautifully hydrated and nourished skin. Preferably before sleep, so the oil can do its work at night when your skin is recovering. Use a little of the oil also under your regular day or night cream and on areas that need extra attention, such as fine lines, age spots or dry areas. To use the oil as after-sun care, apply a thin layer to your skin right after sun exposure.

Mix the avocado oil with 1% essential oil of your choice for a wonderful scent!

If you want intensive hair and scalp care for silky soft hair, you can apply the oil to damp hair before bed and wash it out the next morning with shampoo. For a quicker boost, apply the oil to your hair ends and/or scalp just before showering, let it absorb briefly and then wash as usual.
