  2. Urea Lotion
Urea Lotion

This simple lotion is ideal for people with very dry and dull skin. It contains 5% urea, which works as a humectant to draw moisture to the surface of your skin. This results in soft and hydrated skin. In addition, the outer layer is gently exfoliated. This improves the texture and gives smoother-looking skin.

Instructions

1
Make sure you have all your tools and supplies ready and that everything is properly sanitised.
2
Set your hob and pan with an inch of water over medium heat, if you do not have a hot plate.
3
Prepare and measure Phase A (water and urea) in a heat-resistant container. Mix well.
4
Prepare Phase B (glycerine and xanthan gum) in a separate container. Mix well and set aside.
5
Prepare and measure Phase C (cetyl alcohol, vegetable, avocado oil) in a heat-resistant container.
6
Prepare and measure Phase D (vitamin E and Geogard ECT). Set aside.
7
Heat Phase A and Phase C until both phases reach 75 degrees Celsius. Stir both phases together to combine all the ingredients.
8
When Phase C is fully melted and the temperature is at 75 degrees Celsius, combine all three phases (A, B and C).
9
Turn off the heat and remove the beaker from the pan.
10
Mix with a stick blender. Pulse for 5-10 seconds or until it turns cloudy, which indicates that the mixture has emulsified.
11
Keep stirring with a spatula until it cools down to 40 degrees Celsius.
12
Add Phase D and mix until everything is well combined.
13
Stir gently until you reach room temperature.
14
Measure the pH. It should be between 5.0 and 5.5.
15
Use an acid such as lactic acid solution to lower the pH, or a base such as sodium bicarbonate or sodium hydroxide solution to raise it, until you have the desired pH.
16
Pour it into a bottle with a pump and label your creation.
