What is Peppermint Hydrosol?

Peppermint Hydrosol is the aromatic water that remains after steam distillation of peppermint. The scent is powerful, fresh and menthol-like, with sweet tones. A natural refresher for skin, hair and atmosphere.

Peppermint (Mentha × piperita) is a hybrid plant, created from a natural cross between watermint and spearmint. The plant was first recognized and classified in England in the 17th century and has since been cultivated worldwide for its refreshing scent and versatile use.

Our Peppermint Hydrosol is organically certified by Ecocert COSMOS, obtained through steam distillation of the dried plant. It is a fine hydrosol for oily or combination skin and for a cooling, refreshing feeling.

How is Peppermint Hydrosol made?

The above-ground parts of the peppermint plant are harvested and dried, and then processed through steam distillation. The steam carries along the volatile aromatic compounds and condenses into a liquid. The essential oil floats on top, underneath remains the aromatic water, which is the hydrosol.

Our hydrosol is preserved with Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate (Leucidal), a natural fermentation ingredient obtained from fermented radish roots. This is an Ecocert-approved natural preservative that extends the shelf life of the hydrosol without synthetic additions.

Spray on a cotton pad or Face Wipe and apply gently to cleansed skin. For dry skin you can mix with Rose Water for a milder toner.

As face spray
Spray directly on the face for a refreshing, cool moment during the day.

As after shave
Spray on the skin after shaving for a cooling, soothing feeling.

As hair spray
Spray in the hair and on the scalp for a fresh feeling and a light menthol scent.
