No, you don't stop sweating. This is not an antiperspirant and does not block your sweat glands. You will notice that you continue to sweat during exercise (but don't smell). Sweating is healthy and helps the body eliminate waste products. Bacteria cause it to smell bad. This deodorant ensures that these bacteria don't get a chance, so you keep sweating but don't smell. Cool, right?

The variant with the Fresh Balance blend smells fresh, sweet, and not too feminine. The Vanilla predominates (so not the synthetic vanilla scent you might know from perfume). This scent is also suitable for men. The natural variant smells very neutral to almost odorless. All natural oils have a very subtle scent. The only way to be completely odorless is to use refined raw materials, something we prefer not to do.

With daily use, this jar lasts about a month (sometimes longer).

Our deodorant is easy to apply and therefore also easy to wash off your hands. Washing with a little hand soap and water is enough to make your hands grease-free again. If you have been using spreadable (waterless) natural deodorant for a while, your body probably doesn't need to adjust to this deodorant.

Did you use an antiperspirant with aluminum for this, or a natural brand (water-based) that contained alcohol or perfume? Then it might be that your armpits need a moment to adjust before the deodorant works.

The idea of "weaning off" aluminum in the context of deodorant or antiperspirant use is technically not entirely true, in the sense that there is no physiological dependence on these substances in the human body.

But when you switch from traditional antiperspirants (which contain aluminum salts that reduce sweat production) to natural deodorants that do not contain these salts, you may experience a temporary increase in sweat and body odor. This is sometimes interpreted as a "detox period."

In reality, however, this is simply the body's natural sweating process functioning normally again after the removal of the sweat-blocking effects of aluminum salts.

But, it may be that when you switch from a spray deodorant with water to a spreadable deodorant without water, the flora of your skin needs to get used to this and reacts differently.

In a water-based spray deodorant, there are often astringent ingredients such as alcohol, perfume, witch hazel, and phenoxyethanol. These substances dry out the skin, and as a result, your armpits feel drier and odors are counteracted.

Although both Baking Soda and Magnesium Hydroxide are basic, they have a different effect on the skin. Magnesium Hydroxide remains more on the surface, does not dissolve, and changes the skin's pH less.

Baking soda raises the local pH on the skin, is easily absorbed, and can cause a reaction more quickly upon contact with moisture and oils, irritating the skin.

The low solubility and larger particles of Magnesium Hydroxide make it much milder and more skin-friendly than Baking Soda.

No worries! That's correct! Through the magic of chemistry, our deodorant turns purple after sitting for a few days! This is due to a reaction between magnesium hydroxide and the essential oils.

The effect is still exactly the same. If you have received a deodorant that is still yellow, it was probably made that very day, so you have an extra extra fresh batch. Usually, it turns purple within 2 days.

The Fresh Balance variant contains Sage Clary, and even though it is a very small percentage of 0.25%, professionals advise against using Sage Clary during pregnancy.
