Why is Apricot Kernel Oil so good?

We've all eaten a deliciously juicy apricot, but in oil form the well-known apricot has a fantastic effect. This oil works fantastically against dry skin and strengthens our connective tissue making your skin look firmer.

Apricot kernel oil consists mainly of unsaturated fatty acids, including oleic acid (60%) and linoleic acid (30%). Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid: your body needs it, but doesn't produce it itself. That's not very convenient, because linoleic acid helps prevent flaky and dehydrated skin among other things. That's why many people get linoleic acid from food, but you can also apply Apricot kernel oil directly to the skin.

Additionally, Apricot kernel oil contains Vitamin A, C, E and K which all bring their own benefits. Vitamin E provides an anti-aging effect that keeps your skin young and vitamin K reduces the dark circles around your eyes.

How is it made?

Apricot kernel oil is pressed from the kernels of apricots and originally comes from Armenia. The botanical name is therefore named after it: Prunus Armeniaca. Nowadays, Apricot kernel oil is produced extensively around the Mediterranean region, particularly in Spain and Turkey.

How to use it:

For optimal hydration, apply Apricot kernel oil to your body just after showering or distribute a few drops over your face after cleansing. With the help of the oil, your skin retains the most moisture for a wonderfully soft and nourished skin.

For hair and scalp, it's best to massage a little oil into your scalp and apply to your hair ends under the shower and then wash your hair with shampoo as you normally would.

Since Apricot kernel oil doesn't have an intense nutty scent and has a fairly subtle color, it's ideal to use as a makeup remover. Simply apply some oil to a cotton pad and wipe it where needed.

Also suitable for use with young children!

Store Apricot kernel oil in a closed cabinet and it keeps for about one year. If you don't use the oil regularly, you can better store it in the refrigerator, this way it keeps a bit longer.
