Coconut oil consists for the most part of saturated fatty acids, which is unique for a nut oil. The saturated fatty acids ensure that your skin and hair absorb the oil well and can retain moisture. They are also great at restoring the skin's natural barrier function. Coconut oil contains, among other things:
Lauric acid: helps to repair skin and hair, also with blemishes
Caprylic acid: purifying, nourishes the skin, combats irritation, acts as an antioxidant
Vitamin E: helps prevent premature skin ageing
