Probably familiar to many of you: suddenly you notice it again.. Your hair is frizzy! It seems like there's nothing to be saved, and even your last tricks don't do much. And now that you've noticed it, it's incredibly hard to shift your focus. It has to get back to shiny, well cared for and healthy, no matter what. Whether it's a full head of curls, a sleek bob or a fresh short cut, you've come to the right place. Time to give your locks plenty of love and attention!
But first, how does it actually happen? There are several causes that can mean your hair needs extra care. It often happens that we do certain things without knowing their negative effects. Think, for example, of the following:
Washing your hair with hot water
Washing your hair every day
Combing your hair while it's still wet
Styling your hair with a hairdryer or straightener/curling iron
The only cause you can't control yourself is the weather. Cold is a big culprit. Cold temperatures in themselves aren't a problem, but the dry air circulating from the heating is. Relative humidity is then around 30%, whereas 50% to 60% is ideal. To use a fancy word, hair is hygroscopic. That simply means it takes on the moisture levels of its surroundings. So it's no wonder your hair feels dry and frizzy in the autumn and winter months.

Luckily, besides all these culprits, there are also plenty of helpers that can get the chaos on your head back under control in no time! Be the boss of your own hair, Natural Heroes to the rescue!
Hair mist, also known as "hair perfume". Now you might be thinking, why do I need this in a time of crisis? But take it from me, this natural moisturiser contains everything you need! A recipe of our own that you can use to pamper your hair every day. Not only does it smell lovely of roses, it also nourishes your hair thanks to the added Aloe Vera and Flower Honey.
Recipe for a 100 ml bottle
5 grams Flower Honey
20 grams Aloe Vera Juice
75 grams Rose Water (or orange blossom water, lavender water)
Recipe for damaged hair:
5 grams Flower Honey
20 grams Aloe Vera Juice
70 grams Rose Water (or orange blossom water, lavender water)
5 grams Glycerine (For very dry and damaged hair)
How To: Pour the Aloe Vera juice and Rose Water into a small saucepan and add the flower honey. Warm it gently until the honey has fully dissolved and it has become a liquid. Pour into a bottle with a spray cap and shake well. Spray it generously into towel-dried hair in the morning and start your day with a great hair boost. Avoid the roots to prevent a greasy look

A hair serum provides care and protection at the same time. It coats your hair with a thin layer, so harmful external effects can't get in. It's also brilliant at making your locks shine. Shine and bounce like never before after use! Using oil is also a good way to tackle static hair. An all-rounder, then, that rescues you from all your woes in no time.
Recipe for 30 ml
15 ml Argan Oil
0.5 ml Vitamin E Oil
14.5 ml Sesame Seed Oil
How To: Combine all the ingredients and keep stirring well for a while. Pour the oil into a brown dropper bottle. To use, pour a few drops onto your hands and gently massage them into the ends of your hair. Make sure you avoid the top. Stay about 10 cm away from the roots to avoid unwanted greasy patches. You can use the oil every day, or only when you feel your hair needs some extra care.

Who doesn't know it? Dry shampoo is totally hot and happening, so it couldn't be left off this list! One of the reasons your hair quickly gets dry and frizzy is washing it too often and too hot. Using a dry shampoo will make that a thing of the past. Of course it takes time to wean yourself off your usual routine, but especially at this time of year dry shampoo is your best friend. And guess what? It's also super easy to make yourself. Watch Malou's recipe below on our YouTube channel or click the button for the recipe.
Using a hair mask regularly is also an easy way to nourish your hair intensely and stop it from getting frizzy. Because the mask can soak in for half an hour, it has plenty of time to work its magic. A single oil, with no additives, is enough to make your hair shine more than ever!
Suitable oils:
Jojoba oil
Jojoba protects your hair and scalp from the drying effect of shampoo and leaves it feeling wonderfully soft and cared for.
Argan oil
Thanks to the high concentration of vitamin E and unsaturated fatty acids, you give your hair a powerful, natural boost!
Broccoli seed oil
Broccoli seed oil is a natural alternative to silicones and is a star at caring for dry and damaged hair. This oil is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins, such as vitamins A, C and K, which are essential for keeping hair healthy and shiny.
Evening primrose oil
The golden oil from the seeds of the evening primrose has a unique content of essential unsaturated fatty acids, which give you a healthier and softer head of hair!
How To: Spread a few drops of oil over your hands and massage into your hair and scalp. Leave to soak in for about half an hour. If you like, you can wear a shower cap while you wait. Then wash your hair as usual with shampoo.
One last tip, in case you're not already doing this.. Use a natural shampoo & conditioner. Conventional products often contain lots of synthetic substances and parabens, which your hair gets used to over time, so it gets greasy faster and faster. Before you know it, you're washing every day and you're even further away from that healthy head of hair!
Two little gems we have in our range are the shampoo and conditioner from Mas Newen.
Mas Newen Shampoo
100% natural, based on lemongrass. This lovely stuff is made with great care by a community in the jungle of northern Thailand. The wild-harvested soap nuts, bay leaf and rose apple provide ultimate care and leave your hair silky soft. That's how you care for your hair the natural way.
Mas Newen Conditioner
100% natural, based on rice bran. Rice bran is the thin layer left over when normal rice is turned into white rice. It contains loads of fibre and nutrients. All the natural ingredients in this conditioner go through a fermentation process. This enhances many of the powerful properties of the plants used. This process also gives it a longer shelf life. That's why this conditioner keeps for 12 months after opening!
I hope I've given you enough tips to keep your hair under control in the colder months too. Don't hesitate to ask if there's anything else you'd like to know. We'll gladly answer your questions!
