Description
What is Soya Wax?
Soya wax is made from soybeans, a crop that can be replanted and harvested again and again. Paraffin, on the other hand, is made from petroleum, a fossil fuel that runs out. Soya is also a great choice when burning, because it burns clean. Additionally, soya wax is a fantastic vegan alternative to beeswax. Soya wax is used to make candles and is a natural alternative to paraffin. You can also use it in DIY cosmetics.
Benefits of candles
Clean candles
Does this sound familiar? You burn a candle and a black mark is left behind on your candleholder or ceiling. With soya wax, that's a thing of the past! Soya leaves no black marks or dark soot.
Plant-based alternative
Moreover, soya wax is a beautiful plant-based alternative to paraffin, which is made from petroleum.
Soya gets less hot
Soya wax has a lower melting point than paraffin, which reduces the risk of burns if you get hot wax on your skin.
Smells better
When you combine soya wax with your favorite essential oils to make a candle, you enjoy the scent much more than with paraffin. This is because soya wax melts at a lower temperature, so the essential oils don't burn before you smell them. Additionally, soya wax melts more slowly, so the scent of essential oils spreads gradually and your candle lasts twice as long!
Easy to clean
Is your candle finished but some soya wax left behind? No problem! Scrape it off and use it for a new candle, or easily wash it away with some warm water and soap.
Soya wax for skin
Soya wax is suitable for use in cosmetics, such as DIY foot or heel salve or an intensive hand or lip balm. The melting point of soya wax is between 58 and 70 degrees. It is a somewhat harder wax. For facial cosmetics, soya wax is less suitable as it tends to sit on the skin. Our recipes for skin use are often based on Beeswax or Myrica Fruit Wax, Berry Wax or Candelilla Wax or a combination of these.
How do you use it?
You use soya wax to make candles. To make a 100 ml candle, you can melt 100 grams of soya wax and add 5 to 10 grams of essential oil of your choice for a nice scent. You can use these glass jars and these wicks for this.
What makes soya wax so special?
You can mix almost all essential oils with soya wax to make a candle. Replace the herbs in the recipe above with a few drops of Morning Sunshine Blend for a lovely morning or Lavender Essential Oil for a relaxing evening (do blow out the candle before bed)!
