What is Castor Oil?
Castor Oil is also known as wonder oil and that's because it has many extraordinary applications. This castor oil is 100% plant-based and organic and is carefully made from seeds of the green fruits from the wonder tree: the Ricinus Communis. The tree is cultivated in India, East Africa and the southeastern region of the Mediterranean Sea.
What makes castor oil so special is that it consists of about 85 to 90% ricinoleic acid. This is a unique fatty acid that occurs in virtually no other plant oil. It gives the oil its thick, viscous texture and its reputation for richly nourishing and enveloping skin, hair, eyelashes and eyebrows.
How do you use Castor Oil for your hair?
Castor Oil is the oil to give your hair the ultimate care. Castor Oil makes damaged and dull hair (from for example dyeing, blow-drying and styling) grow longer and healthier, giving you beautiful and shiny hair again.
Apply a little oil to your hands and distribute it through lightly damp hair and on the scalp. Let the oil work for a few hours and then wash the hair with your usual shampoo. Castor Oil is a full and thick oil and can sometimes be difficult to wash out of the hair. Therefore it is advisable to dilute the oil with a lighter oil such as almond oil or coconut oil. You can apply the oil to your hair several times a week.
How do you use Castor Oil for eyelashes and eyebrows?
Castor Oil is a popular natural remedy for eyelashes and eyebrows, but apply it wisely. Pure castor oil is too thick and viscous for the fine hairs, and mainly stays as a film layer on the outside. Therefore always dilute the oil with a lighter oil such as jojoba oil or argan oil, in a ratio of about 1 to 3. This way the hairs are nourished, shiny and fuller in appearance, without becoming too heavy.
For convenience, apply the mixture to an old mascara brush or cotton swab, so you can distribute the oil evenly over the eyelashes and eyebrows. You can use the oil daily. Be careful that the oil doesn't get into your eyes.
How do you use Castor Oil for your skin?
Castor Oil has a special role in skincare. Due to its thick structure it stays on the skin for a long time and forms a protective layer that prevents moisture loss. But what makes castor oil really special is that it actually works very well for oily or combination skin. That sounds contradictory, but the ricinoleic acid has a light cleansing effect and helps dissolve excess sebum, without drying out the skin.
Therefore castor oil is an ideal ingredient in an oil cleanser. According to the oil cleansing principle, oil dissolves sebum, not water. A mixture of about 20 to 30% castor oil with 70 to 80% lighter oil such as jojoba oil or sweet almond oil cleanses the skin thoroughly without disrupting the natural skin barrier. Massage the mixture into dry skin, place a warm washcloth on it and wipe off.
How do you use Castor Oil for your beard?
Castor Oil nourishes the beard like no other. Through the stimulating effect, bald and thinner spots in your beard are intensely cared for, so that a full and even beard grows again. Castor Oil also works effectively on the mustache.
Apply the oil to your hands and massage into beard and mustache. Give some extra attention to the spots that could use more oil. You can use the oil daily, but applying it two to four times a week also works perfectly for the desired effect.
Tips when using Castor Oil
- Castor Oil is a remarkably thick and viscous oil. This is normal and comes from the unique composition.
- For use on hair, on eyelashes and eyebrows or as a facial cleanser, it's best to mix the oil with a lighter oil such as jojoba oil, argan oil or sweet almond oil. Pure castor oil is often too heavy for those applications.
- The 100 ml bottle has a wide neck and therefore cannot be combined with a pipette.

De castorolie van Natural Heroes is 100% puur en plantaardig, biologisch gecertificeerd (COSMOS organic via onze leverancier), koudgeperst en hexaanvrij. Ze bestaat voor circa 85–90% uit ricinolzuur en is lichtgeel van kleur met een vrijwel neutrale geur. De olie is ongeraffineerd en bevat geen andere ingrediënten dan ricinusolie (Ricinus Communis).
Is deze castorolie 100% puur, biologisch en hexaanvrij?

Waarvoor kan ik castorolie gebruiken?
Castorolie is een echte veelzijdige wonderolie. Dankzij het hoge gehalte aan ricinolzuur en omega-9 vetzuren kun je het gebruiken als: haarverzorging (hoofdhuid, haarpunten, haarmasker), wimper- en wenkbrauwserum, verzorging van droge huid op gezicht en lichaam, en als basis voor DIY-recepten zoals scrubs, lipbalsem of serums. Breng het 's avonds aan zodat de olie rustig kan intrekken.
Helpt castorolie bij haargroei en vollere wimpers/wenkbrauwen?
Castorolie voedt de haarwortel en de huid eromheen dankzij de rijke hoeveelheid omega-9 vetzuren, waardoor haar, haarzakje en omliggende huid tot diep in de wortel worden gevoed. Dit kan bijdragen aan een betere haargroei en vollere wimpers en wenkbrauwen. Resultaten verschillen per persoon en kosten geduld; geef het minimaal 4–6 weken. Breng het aan op de haaraanzet van wimpers en wenkbrauwen met een mascaraborsteltje of wattenstaafje.
Is de olie dik/stroperig en hoe kan ik haar makkelijker aanbrengen?
Koudgeperste castorolie is van nature stroperig en witachtig/lichtgeel van kleur — dat is een teken van puurheid. Voor gebruik in het haar mix je het het beste met een lichtere olie zoals jojoba-, kokos- of amandelolie (bijv. 1 deel castorolie op 2 delen draagolie) zodat het makkelijker smeerbaar en uitwasbaar is. Op de huid kun je het puur gebruiken of verdunnen naar wens.
In welke verpakkingen en maten is de castorolie verkrijgbaar, en zijn ze van glas?
De castorolie is verkrijgbaar in 100 ml (met pipetdop), 300 ml (met zeeppompje) en 1000 ml (glazen fles, zeeppompje apart te bestellen). Voor grotere hoeveelheden is er ook een jerrycan verkrijgbaar. De glazen flessen zijn bruine glazen flessen voor optimale houdbaarheid. De jerrycan is van HDPE-kunststof, wat bestand is tegen castorolie. Wil je een pomp op de 1000 ml fles? Die is los te bestellen in de webshop.
Hoe lang is de castorolie houdbaar en hoe bewaar ik hem het beste?
Na opening is de castorolie 24 maanden (twee jaar) houdbaar. Bewaar de olie koel, droog en donker. De exacte houdbaarheidsdatum vind je op het etiket van het product. Voor vragen over een specifieke batch kun je mailen naar support@naturalheroes.nl.
Is de castorolie geschikt voor inname (food grade)?
Onze castorolie heeft de food-grade specificatie, wat betekent dat het als veilig is getest voor inname en inwendig gebruik. Omdat Natural Heroes een cosmeticabedrijf is, kunnen wij geen advies geven over doseringen. Raadpleeg hiervoor een andere betrouwbare bron of arts.
Kan ik castorolie mengen met andere oliën (kokosolie, jojoba, rozemarijn) voor haar- of huidverzorging?
Ja, castorolie is goed te mixen met andere oliën. Voor haar: mix 1 deel castorolie met 2 delen kokos- of amandelolie voor betere spreiding. Voor een avondserum: bijv. 65% jojoba, 34% castorolie en 1% frankincense. Wil je rozemarijnolie toevoegen? Gebruik dan maximaal 1% etherische olie, vermengd met een draagolie — nooit puur op huid of haar. Jojoba, kokos- en amandelolie zijn fijne combinaties.
Groeit er ongewenst gezichtshaar als ik castorolie op mijn gezicht gebruik?
Nee. Castorolie stimuleert geen nieuwe haargroei op het gezicht. Het zorgt er hoogstens voor dat bestaand haar voller en sterker wordt. Kleine donshaartjes op de wangen veranderen niet in een baard, omdat de groeicyclus per lichaamsplek bepaalt hoe lang een haar wordt. Je kunt castorolie dus veilig op het gezicht gebruiken.
