Description
Provides a fresher, more radiant skin appearance. Ideal for dull and combination skin. It has a warm, spicy and woody aroma and is a 100% CO2-extract of Indian turmeric.
What is Turmeric Oleoresin?
Turmeric Oleoresin comes from the dried roots of the turmeric plant, the same root as the yellow kitchen spice. Using CO2 under high pressure, we extract the fragrance, color and active compounds without solvents. This CO2-extract is a thick, deep orange-brown oil.
It smells warm, spicy and slightly woody, with an earthy undertone. A hint of ginger and curry, but softer. Great if you love warm, spicy scents.
On the skin it provides just that extra bit of freshness. The natural protective compounds in turmeric help the skin against aging and make sensitive skin more comfortable. Use it in a facial oil, balm or body butter. Due to its strong color, start with a very small amount.
What are the benefits of Turmeric Oleoresin?
Protects against aging
Turmeric is full of natural protective compounds (turmerones) that neutralize free radicals. This means your skin looks less dull and tired.
Soothes sensitive skin
The compounds in the extract make irritable or red skin more comfortable. Perfect for those who quickly experience dryness and tightness.
Colors naturally
The deep orange naturally colors oils and soap golden yellow to orange, even with a tiny amount. Handy if you're looking for natural color without artificial additives.
Lasts long in scent
The warm, spicy fragrance adheres well and lingers for hours in oil, balm or fragrance oil.
You need very little
The extract is highly concentrated. A mini-dose already provides noticeable scent, color and effect, so a bottle lasts a very long time.
How to use Turmeric Oleoresin?
Face: 0.1–0.3% in a carrier oil such as jojoba or squalane, apply in the evening. The color can stain light clothing.
Body: 0.2–1% in body oil or body butter for a warm scent and subtle fresh glow.
Balm or cream: 0.1–0.5%, add when the formula has cooled (below 40°C).
Soap: 0.1–0.5% of total oils. Mix it first with some oil for even color. Expect a yellow to orange tint.
Fragrance or massage oil: 0.5–1% for a spicy, woody base. Never apply undiluted to the skin.
Patch test: always test first on a small area of skin.
What makes Turmeric Oleoresin so special?
Few plant-based extracts provide both a warm scent and a natural color. Turmeric does both, and even at a mini-dose. So a tiny amount colors your soap golden yellow while it smells spicy.
