Description
What is Borage Oil?
Borage oil is a hydrating oil that absorbs quickly. The oil is suitable for both dry and sensitive skin, as well as skin that is prone to breakouts. Mature skin also benefits from the nourishing properties of this healing oil. In short: an ideal ingredient for making a serum or other skincare product.
Borage Oil has a light yellow color and is cold-pressed from the seeds of Borago Officinalis (also called borage or cucumber herb). It naturally contains 20% gamma-linolenic acid (omega 6 fatty acid) which your skin loves.
Benefits
For red skin with breakouts
Borage oil is a rich source of the essential fatty acid omega-6, which gives the oil a deeply hydrating effect without leaving a sticky feeling on the skin. Borage Oil absorbs quickly without clogging pores, making the oil suitable for skin that is prone to breakouts.
For dry and sensitive skin
Because Borage Oil absorbs so quickly, it is also an ideal oil to nourish dry and sensitive skin. Borage has a positive influence on resistance and circulation and contains many antioxidants, which helps protect sensitive skin against harmful external influences.
For mature skin
Borage Oil is deeply hydrating and has a positive effect on cell renewal and collagen production. This makes the oil a pleasant anti-ager that is suitable for mature skin.
Uplifts & gives courage
Besides all these wonderful benefits for the skin, Borage Oil also has an uplifting and encouraging effect. The name Borage is probably derived from the Celtic word 'borrach' which means 'a courageous person'. Mix the oil with a thin oil like Jojoba Oil or Argan Oil and your favorite essential oils (check beforehand if these are suitable for your skin). Use the combination as body oil or bath oil to enjoy the encouraging energy of this oil. Or put some of the oil in a Roll-On Bottle and roll it on your wrists several times a day for an energetic pick-me-up!
How do you use it?
Use Borage Oil as an ingredient in DIY skincare products, such as a serum or scrub.
As face oil
After cleansing your skin, massage 2 drops of Borage Oil over your face. Make gentle, circular movements until the oil is completely absorbed. Because the oil doesn't leave a sticky layer, you can apply your makeup immediately afterwards.
Store Borage Oil in the refrigerator to enjoy the nourishing properties of the oil for as long as possible.
What is so special about it?
Borago Officinalis originally comes from the Mediterranean region and is beloved there by bumblebees and bees, who enjoy the summery blue flowers of the plant. The taste of the plant's leaves is reminiscent of cucumber and the plant is therefore also called cucumber herb in the Netherlands.
