What is Amyris Essential Oil?

The warm, woody scent of Amyris is reminiscent of cedarwood with a hint of vanilla. The fragrance calms and brings you peace during turbulent times or after a long day.

Amyris Essential Oil is steam-distilled from the bark of the Amyris plant. The plant belongs to the citrus family, however the scent of Amyris does not remind of citrus.

In the perfume industry and aromatherapy, Amyris is often used as a substitute for Vetiver or Sandalwood. Sometimes Amyris is even called West Indian Sandalwood. Although Amyris Essential Oil clearly smells different from Sandalwood, it is an ideal substitute in recipes that call for Vetiver or Sandalwood Essential Oil.

Extends the duration of scents

Amyris essential oil is also often used to make the scent of perfume last longer. So if you want your DIY care products to smell nice for longer? Then add a small percentage of Amyris Essential Oil.

How to use it?

Note: Amyris essential oil can be somewhat viscous at cold temperatures. Warm the bottle in hot water before dripping or use a pipette.

Mix 100 ml Fractionated Coconut Oil with 1 milliliter (1%) Amyris Essential Oil and apply to the back of your neck and under your feet after a long day. Take one deep breath in and out and enjoy the warm, woody scent.

For diffusing

Combine 3 drops of Amyris Essential Oil with 3 drops of Sweet Orange Essential Oil in your diffuser for a calm atmosphere in your home.

Before bedtime you can diffuse 4 drops of Amyris Essential Oil with 1 drop of Vetiver Essential Oil and 2 drops of Cedarwood Essential Oil. This creates a soft, calming scent in the bedroom.

What makes it so special?

Amyris Essential Oil is steam-distilled from the bark of the Amyris tree. The tree can grow up to eighteen meters high and has white flowers that develop into beautiful blue-black berries. Amyris originally grew in the Caribbean, where the plant has long been used by indigenous peoples.
