Monoï de Tahiti: "sacred oil from Tahiti" has a history as rich as its scent and is one of the most popular products in our range. The fresh, floral scent of the oil, combined with its lovely properties, provides intense care for body and mind. We offer 2 versions, namely Monoï de Tahiti 100% and Monoï de Tahiti 99%. First of all, both oils partly get their scent from the flowers being infused into the coconut oil.
The difference lies in the type of fragrance that is added.
The Monoi de Tahiti Oil (99% pure) consists of 96.8% coconut oil with 2% Tiare flower extract, the monoi flower. Together they form a macerate. To this, 0.02% Vitamin E oil has been added for extra care and to slow down oxidation. The 1% fragrance in this monoi is nature-identical but synthetically produced in a lab.
The Monoï de Tahiti Oil (100% Pure & Natural) has a natural fragrance that, under IFRA legislation, falls within natural cosmetics. This is a high concentration of the Tiare Tahiti plant extract that has been added. The INCI name is parfum for both.
Monoï de Tahiti has its origins in French Polynesia. Monoï oil has been produced for 2000 years because of its special characteristics. In French Polynesia the oil is sacred and is used for both skin and hair!
Monoï de Tahiti is so popular because it has a delightful scent and an intensely nourishing effect. It can be used for both the skin and the hair. Similar products such as Shea Butter and Shea Nilotica have an 'earthy' scent. Monoï de Tahiti, on the other hand, has the floral, coconut-like, tropical scent that makes many people very happy!
Monoï de Tahiti Oil is produced through a complex method, Enfleurage, by soaking the native flower Tiare Tahiti (Gardenia Tahitensis) in locally sourced coconut oil. The coconuts used for this must be harvested on coral soil in French Polynesia. Only then does the oil receive the official Appellation of Origin. Natural Heroes' Monoï de Tahiti Oil is produced in French Polynesia, contains 100% Monoï de Tahiti, carries the official appellation of origin and is free from parabens.
Monoï de Tahiti has a soothing, calming and purifying effect on the skin and provides long-lasting hydration. You can use Monoï oil as a skin oil, bath oil, massage oil and as after-sun care after sunbathing. The oil leaves a delightful tropical floral scent on your skin. Pregnant women can use Monoï oil to keep the skin supple, and also to apply to their newborn baby.
Monoï de Tahiti is great for your hair. The oil provides a beautiful shine and reduces frizz and static hair. The deeply hydrating oil helps with damaged hair, can reduce hair breakage by 96% and provides better hair elasticity.
Monoï de Tahiti has a floral, coconut-like, tropical scent. It has a similar form to coconut oil, namely solid. But it melts when it comes into contact with body temperature. The colour can vary from ivory to yellow. It is supplied in glass jars.
Most oils have a shelf life of around twelve months, Monoï de Tahiti included. To keep the oil for as long as possible, it is important to store it cool and dry. Preferably in a dark place. The oil does not necessarily have to be kept in the fridge. Do bear in mind, however, that at a temperature of 22 degrees or higher the oil becomes liquid. This has no effect on the quality. It is then best to put the jar back in a cooler place or briefly in the fridge, and it will solidify again.
