Description

What is Silk Protein?

Silk Protein (Hydrolyzed) is made from silk found in the cocoon of the silk moth. The fibers are broken down into small protein pieces, also known as amino acids and peptides. This allows it to dissolve well in water and be easily absorbed by skin and hair.

The scent is very light and almost neutral. The texture immediately provides a smooth and supple feel. You notice it most in how soft a product feels as soon as you use it.

For the skin, it helps retain moisture and makes the skin smoother. For hair, it forms a thin layer around the hair fiber, reducing frizz and adding shine. Ideal for adding to DIY creams, serums, shampoos or conditioners for an instant soft finish.

What are the benefits of Silk Protein?

Powerful moisture binder
The small amino acids attract water and help retain it. This prevents dry, tight-feeling skin and makes the skin more supple.

Instantly smooths and softens
It forms a thin, invisible layer that makes skin and hair smoother. This provides a soft finish and beautiful natural shine.

Strengthens hair
The protein particles adhere to damaged parts of the hair. This makes the hair feel stronger and breaks less easily.

Helps reduce frizz
The smooth layer reduces friction between hairs. This keeps hair in place better and calms frizzy hair.

Soothes dry skin
Amino acids like glycine and serine naturally occur in the skin. These help reduce the feeling of tightness and provide more comfort.

Light hydration without a greasy feel
It hydrates without feeling heavy or greasy. This makes it great for light creams, serums and leave-ins.

Improves formula texture
Gives creams, gels and shampoos a smoother and more luxurious feel. Products spread more easily and feel nicer on the skin and in the hair.

How do you use Silk Protein?

Face: Use 0.5–2% in serums, toners or creams. Add to the water phase or below 40 °C in the cooling phase.

Body: Use 1–3% in body lotions or hand creams for extra softness and hydration.

Hair: Use 2–5% in shampoo, conditioner, hair mask or leave-in. This makes hair smoother and easier to comb through.

In ready-made products: Mix a few drops through the amount you use immediately, not into the entire container.

What makes Silk Protein so special?

This ingredient works at a low dosage. With just a few percent, a formula immediately feels softer and smoother. The amino acids are similar to those of the skin itself, which is why it quickly feels familiar and works well with skin and hair. Note: this ingredient is of animal origin and therefore not vegan.
