What is Mango Butter?

This Mango Butter is organically certified and extracted from the pit of the mango fruit. At room temperature it is solid and slightly harder than shea butter, at skin temperature it melts immediately. The scent is virtually neutral due to refining and the texture is creamy soft. The Latin name is Mangifera Indica.

Mango Butter is naturally rich in oleic acid and stearic acid, and contains a smaller amount of palmitic acid, linoleic acid and phytosterols. A fine alternative to shea butter, with a comparable nourishing profile but a slightly firmer structure and a more neutral scent. The organic certification guarantees that the mango pits are grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.

How do you use Mango Butter?

Directly from the jar
Mango butter is quite hard at room temperature. You can place the jar in a warm environment for a moment so the butter becomes softer, or scrape out a small amount with a spoon and melt it between your hands. From about 35 degrees mango butter melts by itself, so as soon as it makes contact with your skin it becomes liquid.

Soften with a carrier oil
If you want to be able to spread the butter smoothly right away, mix an amount with a carrier oil of your choice, for example Jojoba Oil or Sweet Almond Oil. This gives a creamy, spreadable texture that can be used directly on skin, hair or lips.

On dry spots
Especially nice on elbows, knees, heels and other dry spots. The butter gradually absorbs and leaves softened skin behind.

In DIY
Mango butter is versatile in homemade care. Due to its firm structure it is excellent for body butters, lip balm, lotion bars and stick formulas. Combine with shea butter and a carrier oil for a fluffy body butter, or with beeswax and a carrier oil for a lip balm.

Difference with our other Mango Butter

Besides this organic version we also have a Mango Butter (Cold-pressed and Refined). This organic version is expeller-pressed and organically certified. The cold-pressed version is extracted without external heat during pressing, but is not organically certified. Both butters have a comparable fatty acid profile and use.

Points of attention

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. Not in the refrigerator, as then the butter becomes too hard to scoop out. Always close the jar properly after use.

Mango Butter is an ingredient from the Anacardiaceae family, the same family as cashew and pistachio. With a serious nut allergy, first test on a small piece of skin and wait 24 hours before using it on larger surfaces. Keep out of reach of children. For external use.
