Description
What is Sunflower Lecithin?
Sunflower Lecithin is extracted from sunflower seeds and carefully purified to cosmetic quality. This product is a true team player: it brings water and oil together in one formula and ensures the skin feels soft and supple.
Sunflower Lecithin is a thick, dark orange to brown colored liquid with a soft, slightly nutty scent. The scent is so subtle that your own blends and essential oils always remain the star.
This product is packed with substances that resemble the natural fats in the skin. This makes the skin recognize Sunflower Lecithin as familiar. It supports repair, makes the skin softer and helps keep formulas beautifully stable and even.
Sunflower Lecithin is versatile for use in homemade creams, balms, cleansers and makeup. Thanks to its neutral scent and soft feel, this product fits perfectly in simple, skin-friendly recipes.
What are the benefits of Sunflower Lecithin?
- Supports a strong skin barrier The natural fats in lecithin help the skin retain moisture better. The result: supple, comfortable skin that feels well protected.
- Gives formulas a wonderfully soft feel Sunflower Lecithin makes creams fuller, creamier and finely spreadable. No heavy or sticky layer, but a silky smooth finish.
- Helps bring water and oil together This product works as a connector in formulas. It helps keep creams and lotions beautifully blended, with a smooth, velvety texture.
- Soothes and softens the skin Dry or sensitive skin feels more comfortable thanks to the soothing effect. It helps reduce tightness and redness.
- Protects the freshness of formulas Lecithin helps keep oils in a product fresh longer, so homemade products become rancid less quickly.
- Helps distribute active ingredients better The natural fats ensure that active ingredients spread more evenly across the skin. This makes formulas more effective.
- Also cares for hair and scalp In hair masks and leave-ins, Sunflower Lecithin helps tame frizzy hair, add shine and keep the scalp comfortable.
How do you use Sunflower Lecithin?
- Face: Add 1–3% to the oil phase of a cream or serum for extra softness. For cold processing, first mix with a little vegetable oil.
- Emulsions: Use 0.5–3% together with a main emulsifier. Add to the oil or warm phase and mix at approximately 60–70°C for a stable, creamy texture.
- Cleansers: For milky cleansers or oil cleansers, add 1–3% to the oil phase. This gives a soft, rinsable texture and a fine skin feel after cleansing.
- Balms and body butters: Dose 0.5–2% in the oil phase. This makes the product easier to spread and gives a creamy, nourishing feel on the skin.
- Hair: Mix 1–2% in masks, conditioners or leave-ins for easier combing and more shine. Add to the oil or cool phase and mix thoroughly.
- Tip: This product is thick and can become even thicker when cool. Light heating makes dosing much easier. Essential oils maximum 1% of the total formula and never pure on the skin.
