Description
What is Satin Foam?
Satin Foam (Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate) is an amino acid-based cleanser that completely dissolves in water and keeps formulas clear. It is a liquid ingredient that easily blends into gels, shampoos and cleansers. The scent is minimal: a very soft, clean hint that doesn't overpower a formula.
Satin Foam is made from plant-based lauric acid and the amino acid sarcosine. This combination creates a surfactant known for gentle cleansing and airy, creamy foam. A popular choice in modern, gentle skin and hair care.
What are the benefits of Satin Foam?
Gentle yet thorough cleansing
Cleanses sebum, dirt and SPF without disrupting natural balance. Ideal for daily use, even with sensitive skin.
Airy and stable foam
Produces a creamy foam that feels pleasant and stays firm even in sulfate-free formulas.
Comfort for sensitive skin and scalp
The amino acid base supports a calm and comfortable skin feel, even with frequent washing or sensitivity.
Flexible in formulas
Works well with other mild surfactants and keeps gels, shampoos and cleansers clear and smooth.
Fresh cleansing without dry feeling
Rinses away cleanly and leaves no layer behind, keeping shampoo and body wash light and pleasant.
Suitable for various applications
From cleansers to shaving foam and toothpaste: a versatile ingredient for numerous gentle cleansers.
Naturally derived and biodegradable
A modern choice for formulations that are gentle on both skin and nature.
How do you use Satin Foam?
You add Satin Foam (Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate) to the water phase or at the end of the warm phase, depending on your recipe.
Gentle mixing
Stir calmly to prevent excessive foam formation.
Use low stirring speeds and avoid shaking.
Extra mildness
Combine with 2 - 10% amphoteric surfactants (such as Cocamidopropyl Betaine) for extra mildness, better viscosity and more luxurious foam.
pH adjustment
Set final pH to 5.0 - 6.5.
Too high pH makes it drier for skin and hair; too low pH can affect viscosity.
Thickening
Compatible with xanthan gum, acrylate copolymers, salt (in some systems) and glucoside surfactants.
