What is Sensicare M 4200?

Sensicare M 4200 is a water-soluble, white powder without noticeable scent that keeps your DIY formulas fresh, safe and stable, without changing your texture, color or scent. It works in a broad pH range (approximately 3–6) and is ideal for clear gels, serums, toners and light creams.

The core is gluconolactone, a polyhydroxy acid (PHA) that is naturally mild, attracts moisture and supports the skin barrier. How do you use Sensicare M 4200?

Dosage: 0.8–1.5% (starting example: 1.0%); in some formulas up to 2%. Work within a final pH below 6 (preferably 4.5–5.5) for optimal performance.

Dissolving: add to the water phase (cold or warm); it dissolves in water or glycerin. Check and correct the pH after mixing if necessary.

Compatibility: works together with anionic, cationic and non-ionic ingredients; ideal for gels, toners, serums, creams and cleansers. As binder in pressed powders: 1–2%.

Tip: for commercial formulas always have a (PET) challenge test performed; for DIY: work cleanly, make small batches and package well.
