What is Sage Essential Oil?

Salvia Sclarea, or Sage, is a small shrub plant with green stems and purple flowers. This multifunctional herb originally comes from the Balkans and you may know it especially for its role as a flavoring in the kitchen. 'Salvia' comes from the Latin word meaning 'to save', a fitting name for this versatile herb.

The Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians all had a special relationship with Sage.

Later, it was processed into oil through steam distillation. Both the stems and the beautiful purple flowers are used for this. The result is a colorless to yellow oil.
