Description
What is Safflower Oil (Organic & Cold-pressed)?
Safflower oil is a lovely, nourishing oil for the skin and a rich source of Omega-6 fatty acid. Safflower oil provides deep care for oily skin without clogging it and soothes red and sensitive skin.
Safflower oil, also called Thistle Oil, is cold-pressed from the seeds of the thistle plant (Carthamus Tinctorius). The plant originally comes from Egypt, but is now also grown in other parts of the world. The Safflower Oil we sell is made in Australia.
Benefits of Safflower Oil
Cares for oily skin
Safflower oil contains a high percentage of Omega-6 (linoleic acid), which allows the oil to absorb quickly into the skin without leaving a shiny layer and clogging pores. By applying safflower oil, the skin will automatically produce less sebum, making your skin less oily and reducing the chance of pimples. Moreover, safflower oil has a mattifying effect on (oily) skin.
Soothes red and sensitive skin
Besides Omega-6, Safflower oil is rich in vitamins A, E and K. Vitamins A and E help protect the skin against harmful external influences. Vitamin A stimulates the production of new skin cells, while vitamin K supports the skin's self-healing ability. Safflower oil is therefore very nice to use on red, sensitive skin that could use some extra care.
How do you use Safflower Oil?
Use Safflower Oil directly on the skin or incorporate in DIY skincare products, the oil is very suitable as a base oil in combination with Essential Oils. You can also experiment nicely with Safflower Oil in the kitchen in dressings, pestos and smoothies.
For the skin
Use Safflower Oil as moisturizer, serum or day cream by applying it in the morning or evening to cleansed skin. Warm three drops of Safflower Oil between your hands and massage with gentle, circular movements over the face.
The rest of the body also enjoys this hydrating oil. Apply it after showering, the oil is absorbed extra well when the skin is still a bit moist.
What is so special about Safflower Oil?
Safflower was initially grown in Egypt as a substitute for the expensive Saffron. But nowadays the oil from this plant is known for its own practical properties.
Note: Safflower oil can solidify at lower temperatures, causing lumps or streaks to sometimes float in it. This is normal. Gently warm the oil au bain-marie (not above 35 degrees Celsius) to make it liquid again.
