Description
What is Rice Protein powder?
Rice protein powder is a light plant-based powder derived from rice grains. The proteins are broken down into small particles that easily dissolve in water and are quickly absorbed by hair and skin. The scent is mild, grain-like and lightly sweet. It doesn't feel heavy and doesn't leave a sticky layer. Perfect to stir through your DIY shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, serum or lotion.
Rice protein powder binds moisture in hair and skin and forms a thin, breathable layer. This makes the skin feel smoother and gives hair more body and less frizz. It is light in texture, doesn't weigh hair down and attaches to where it's needed, whether that's dry skin or brittle, lifeless hair.
What are the benefits of Rice Protein powder?
More moisture in skin and hair
Rice protein powder attracts moisture and holds it. This helps soften tight skin and makes dry hair less rough.
Stronger and more resilient hair
The small protein particles attach to the hair and fill in damaged spots. This provides more strength and helps reduce hair breakage.
Smoothness and less frizz
Rice protein powder forms a thin layer around the hair that reduces friction and helps close the hair cuticles. Result: softer hair that combs through more easily.
Smoother and more comfortable skin
The amino acids resemble substances that the skin naturally produces to retain moisture. This makes the skin feel smoother and less dry more quickly.
More volume without weighing down
Rice protein powder is light and doesn't build up quickly. Curls and fine hair get body without collapsing.
Plant-based and mild
It comes from rice and naturally contains no gluten or added fragrances. Great if you prefer to use a simple, plant-based ingredient.
How do you use Rice Protein?
Face: Use 1–3% in the water phase of a serum, gel or lotion. Preferably add during the cooling phase below 40°C.
Hair: Use 0.5–5% in shampoo, conditioner or leave-in. First dissolve in a little water and add to the water phase, preferably below 40°C.
DIY tip: First dissolve rice protein in a little warm water and then stir that solution through your recipe for a lump-free result.
Sensitive to rice? Then first test on a small patch of skin.
What makes Rice Protein powder so special?
Rice protein is naturally gluten-free and feels lighter than many other proteins. This makes it popular in volume shampoos and leave-ins that provide body without weighing down.
