Description
What is Murumuru Butter?
Murumuru comes from the Amazon region, where the palm seeds are collected and mechanically pressed. The butter has an ivory-cream color, melts around skin temperature and feels silky smooth. The scent is subtly nutty and warm.
The butter is rich in natural saturated fatty acids such as lauric and myristic acid. This supports the skin barrier, soothes discomfort and helps retain moisture. Lauric acid is known for purifying, skin-friendly properties.
This product is also a favorite for hair: it adds shine, tames frizz and defines curls without feeling heavy. The gentle scent and cocooning texture provide a relaxing, nurturing ritual. Ideal as a base for DIY body butters, lip balms, hair balms and solid bars.
What are the benefits of Murumuru Butter?
- Deep, long-lasting hydration — The butter forms a breathable, protective layer that helps prevent moisture loss and leaves the skin feeling supple.
- Barrier support — Natural fatty acids nourish the skin barrier and promote recovery from dryness or roughness, for a more comfortable feeling.
- Soothing and softening — The rich, creamy texture helps reduce discomfort and flaking and supports even, soft skin.
- Purifying support — The high content of lauric acid is known for mild antibacterial properties and helps keep the skin fresh and balanced.
- Shine and curl definition for hair — Murumuru tames frizz, softens the hair fiber and provides natural shine, ideal for curly or dry hair.
- Silky smooth finish without heavy feeling — The butter melts beautifully on the skin and leaves a satin-soft, non-sticky layer.
How do you use Murumuru Butter?
Face: Melt a small pea between the fingers and massage into slightly damp skin as the last step in the routine. In creams add 1–3% to the oil phase.
Body: Use pure on damp skin after shower or bath, or incorporate 5–20% into body butters and lotions for extra nourishment. Add to the oil phase.
Lips: Perfect for balms, use 20–60% together with plant oils and wax. Melt au bain-marie and incorporate as oil phase.
Hair mask: Melt a walnut-sized amount in the palms and distribute through lengths and ends, leave on for 10–30 minutes and rinse out. In hair masks 2–10% in the oil phase.
Leave-in and curl definition: Rub a mini amount between the palms and work into the ends or curls for shine and less frizz.
DIY formulating: Incorporate 1–3% in emulsions or up to 100% in balms and solid bars. Melt at low heat, preferably <70°C, add to the oil phase and stir homogeneously.
