What is Babassu Oil?

Babassu Oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the nuts of the Babassu palm (Attalea speciosa), a tree that mainly grows in Brazil. Babassu oil contains a high content of lauric acid (approximately 50%), along with myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid and oleic acid. These fatty acids give the oil its fantastic properties.

This moisturizing and soothing oil is ideal for drier and sensitive skin types. It is a lightweight oil and non-comedogenic. It doesn't clog pores, which makes it also very suitable for oily skin.

Babassu Oil is obtained through Expeller pressing. This is a mechanical method to extract oil from nuts. The seeds are fed through a screw press, which presses them under high pressure to extract the oil. This process generates heat through friction, but the oil remains rich in nutrients.
