These days you hear the term 'Zero Waste' more and more. And thank goodness! But what exactly does it mean? It means that you can use products a 2nd time, a 3rd time, and so on. In the same way or in a different form. This creates less waste, which can be harmful to people and the environment.
You can turn things around completely and start a Zero Waste lifestyle. But it's also fun to start with small steps. Ones you feel comfortable with. Even then you're already making a difference. If we all take small steps, together we take one big step.
But where do you start? Or are you already doing your bit and open to a few tips? We've listed 5 for you below. That's how you make Zero Waste a party!
Get yourself some handy reusable products. Like a shopping bag that's easy to take with you. That way you no longer need to buy plastic bags every time you shop, and as well as avoiding a plastic soup in the sea, you also avoid a mountain of plastic in your home! So less harmful waste. Also take a look at biodegradable products such as a bamboo toothbrush, Make Up Pads, or a reusable Lunch Bag. Easy to reuse, and once the products have had their day, they won't burden the environment.
Make your own products for your body, but also for around the house, for example. Of course we wouldn't be Natural Heroes if we didn't add this tip to the list! It means less wasted packaging material. Not only does the environment benefit, but so do your body and mind. Plus it isn't complicated and it's great fun to do. As well as raw ingredients, we also offer various DIY kits to make your own lip balm , as well as a Natural Care starter kit to get to know natural care products, for example.
Reuse products such as glass jars, for example. Why make it difficult when it can be easy? Reuse glass jars to make your overnight oats in, or to store a lovely DIY balm. So when shopping, avoid plastic packaging that you might be tempted to throw away straight away. Buy as many products as possible in recyclable packaging or without packaging.

Make small changes to your lifestyle. For example, take shorter showers and see if you can keep it to 5 minutes max. Start the clock! Heating the water takes a lot of energy. It burdens the environment as much as 50 times more than cold water! Try washing your laundry at 30 degrees, as this saves energy and your clothes still come out perfectly clean. Combine it with, for example, soap nuts in a soap nut bag which you can use as a natural detergent, and you kill 2 birds with one stone.

Declutter and buy less. Less stuff in your home also means less waste. (And: a tidy home... is a tidy mind!) This is of course a gradual project: thinking consciously about what you do and don't use, taking things to the charity shop or, if you really can't give something a second life, taking it to a recycling centre. When buying new things, ask yourself: do I really need this? Put together a wish list for birthdays; it stops you getting something you won't use at all that just takes up space.
Of course there are many other ways to produce less waste and live a 'zero waste lifestyle'. New ones keep popping up, and more attention is being paid to it when developing products, for example. That makes us really happy!
