A bathroom full of homemade natural products. Knowing what I rub on my body, being able to sense what my skin needs, and doing so in the most zero-waste and sustainable way possible. The ultimate dream I pictured as a beginner DIY-er. That is where I started, on a journey that, looking back, has changed so much for me.
Before long I went looking for small recipes, simple and quick. Without any guidance and with no idea whatsoever about the different butters, oils and raw ingredients, I got started. These simple recipes went well and I got a taste for it. In no time I will be making all the products I could possibly want, I thought.
After so many failed recipes and an enormous number of questions, I no longer found the whole DIY thing all that much fun... The love had, in a way, faded a little. Tension, an abundance of new knowledge, feeling alone and lost. Those are feelings that ran through me when I started this adventure. And perhaps you recognise these feelings too, maybe even right now? I completely understand you!
Because however lost I was and however much I needed a guide, it was so strong. Surely I could not be the only one who felt this way?
I was missing a place where I could share my questions. Where I could talk with others who run into the same problems and understand one another. A place for new inspiration, connection and a sounding board that points me in the right direction. My whole (conscious) life I have immersed myself in various communities and experienced how powerful this can be. The feeling that you may ask anything, can read other people's experiences and have the sense that you have found your tribe, is so special.
During my first DIY phase, I was still working for another company where I met Nevil and Malou (Natural Heroes), and how excited I was when they talked about creating a Community together with their customers. This is where the puzzle fell into place for me.
Bringing the knowledge and love for nature together in one place and sharing this with a group of like-minded people. My answer was a wholehearted: YES!
