22 TIPS FOR A MORE SUSTAINABLE 2022

Looking for ways to reduce your impact on the environment? Not sure where to start? We have 22 tips for you to kick off 2022 fresh and sustainably!

1. Eat less meat.

The fact that it is sad for the animals is simply no longer the only argument. It significantly reduces your carbon footprint if you choose to introduce a meat-free Friday, for example, or to eat meat only at the weekend.

2. Choose Organic.

Opt for food that comes from organic farming as much as possible. Organic farming does not use pesticides, which protects the air and groundwater from unnecessary poisoning. In addition, this way of cultivation makes use of biodiversity, which ensures that the soil does not become depleted and the ecosystem functions optimally.

3. Buy local.

Do your shopping close to home or use a bicycle courier to reduce emissions.

4. Cook fresh.

Cook for yourself instead of getting a takeaway or having food delivered. Make a plan for the whole week, buy only what you can eat, or freeze leftovers for later. This way you reduce packaging waste and prevent food from ending up in the bin unnecessarily.

5. Use a thermos flask

Do you often travel by public transport? Or do you stop at the petrol station for a cup of coffee? Then take your own thermos flask / cup with you and cut down on disposable cups. And while you are at it, you might as well stop using plastic drink bottles too.

6. Lather, rinse, done!

Start by shortening your shower. If you do this every day, you will save an enormous amount of energy and water. Over the course of a year this can make a big difference.

7. Bring your own bag.

Take a few bags with you when you go shopping and do not buy plastic bags. Or reuse them for your next supermarket visit.

8. Buy no more than you need.

Reduce waste in your bathroom. Take an honest look at your cabinets and ask yourself, does this bring me joy? (quote: Marie Kondō). Minimise the use of plastic packaging by no longer buying unnecessary items, or DIY whatever you can DIY.

9. CHOOSE REUSABLE TOOLS.

For example, start using bamboo straws instead of plastic ones. Or opt for reusable cotton pads, a loofah sponge made from natural material, or a sandalwood comb.

10. Avoid paper towels.

Avoid using paper towels in public toilets. Wave your hands to air-dry them or simply wipe them on your jeans. We really do not need them.

11. raise awareness among businesses.

Do you notice that a webshop or the takeaway around the corner uses a lot of plastic? Kindly point it out, and ask whether they could consider an alternative.

13. USE ONE PRODUCT FOR MULTIPLE PURPOSES

Take a look at a care product that you can use for several purposes. For example, the HERO.001, our All Purpose Balm.

14. Say no to fast fashion.

See whether you can find those trousers, jumper, top or shoes second-hand. These days you no longer have to rummage through dusty vintage shops; there is a huge selection available online. And it is kind to your wallet too!

15. Use a sustainable razor.

Replace your plastic disposable razors with an old-fashioned razor for which you only need to replace the blades.

16. CHOOSE A SUSTAINABLE WAY TO TRAVEL.

The aeroplane takes the travel lover to far-off destinations quickly and (if we are honest) actually a little too cheaply. But air travel does not exactly contribute in a positive way to global CO2 emissions. In Europe we have an excellent rail network that offers an alternative to travelling by plane.

17. Swap tampons for a Menstrual Cup.

Perhaps you are already familiar with it as a woman? The silicone alternative to the tampon, the menstrual cup. A better choice for the planet and for your health. Not only does this reduce cotton consumption, it also prevents other harmful substances found in tampons from ending up in our bodies and in nature.

18. Start a natural cosmetics routine.

Start easily and treat yourself or someone else to the Natural Care Package. Throw that synthetic junk out the door and use the African Black Soap as a cleanser, the Witch Hazel as a toner and care for your skin with the Shea Butter, all on a natural basis. Go simple, go green!

19. Buy raw materials in bulk.

Buy ingredients that you use often, such as dried beans or nuts, in bulk and locally. Refill stations can already be found at some supermarkets. But the market is an option too.

20. Recycle old clothing.

Do not simply throw your old clothes in with the general waste. Take them to a charity shop, food bank or giveaway shop, recycle them, or use them as wrapping cloth for gifts.

21. Take the bike

Instead of climbing into your warm tin can and starting the engine in this dreary weather. We get it! Not everyone can afford a Tesla. But when it is dry, take the bike for once, or hop on one of those fun e-scooters at the station. Or take public transport and put on your favourite podcast or music. Whatever you choose, there are always alternatives.

22. Start making your own cosmetics.

With our DIY Kits you can make your own cosmetics in no time. For example lip balm, deodorant, body butter, beard oil and much more. You have full control over the ingredients, so you know exactly what is in them. How cool is that? Give it to yourself as a gift, or make someone else happy with it. Fun guaranteed!
